Glastonbury ticket prices to go up for 2009

Ticket prices for Glastonbury are set to increase for the second year in a row, as Michael Eavis promises a more traditional headliner.

The cost of a weekend pass hasn't been revealed yet, but organisers have announced that fans will be able to reserve a ticket six months before they go on sale.

The deposit will cost £50, but those who decide not to continue with the full purchase on 1 April will be charged £10.

After the festival failed to sell out last year, organiser Michael Eavis is confident that fans will be back in 2009. Speaking to the BBC Eavis said: "Everybody wants to come - everywhere I go people say 'oh we should've been there and we're so fed up about it' because it was so good."

Although the controversial booking of hip hop star Jay-Z was deemed a success in June, Eavis has also hinted that the festival would be reverting to a more customary headline act.

"We'll probably be going for the more traditional headliner next year because there are more of them around and after this year everyone wants to come onboard because it was such a good do. The thing is people are coming back," he said.

Early rumours suggest that Coldplay or Radiohead could be making a return to Worthy Farm.
